Punchdown Tools

Punchdown tools are used for fast and secure termination of telephone cable and data cable into a patch panel or wiring block when installing telephone and data networks.

Their main purpose is to insert wires into insulation displacement connectors on panels, punch down blocks, and surface mount boxes. Punch down tools consist of a handle, a removable blade, and have a spring mechanism. Use the punchdown tools by putting wire into a slot on a punch block and then placing a punch tool over it. The internal spring of the punch down tool will trigger once the desired pressure is reached and then the blade will secure the wire and cut the insulation while it pushes the wire into the slot. They also are normally designed to cut off any excess wire at the same time.

An essential toolbox addition available from CK Tools and Draper.
