Lewden Metal Surge Protected Consumer Units
Lewden’s range of metal consumer units with surge protection combines top-level electrical safety features in a robust, installer-friendly design. These units are designed for modern installations where protection against both electrical faults and voltage surges is essential.
Using Lewden surge-protected consumer units gives peace of mind that both overloads/earth faults and voltage spikes are addressed. For modern homes with lots of electronics, or installs where lighting, sockets, EV chargers etc share a consumer board, built-in SPD is increasingly seen as essential. The steel enclosures protect not just the components, but also ensure a cleaner, safer, and more durable installation that stands up to demanding environments.

Key Features & Highlights
- Surge Protection Device (SPD): Each unit includes a Type 2 SPD (and sometimes Type 2 + Type 3 kits) ensuring protection of circuits from transient surges — safeguarding appliances and electronics.
- RCBO Protection on Final Circuits: Individual circuit protection with RCBOs helps isolate faults without affecting the entire board.
- 100A Main Switch: A solid incomer rating giving enough headroom and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance for typical domestic and light commercial boards.
- Various Sizes (Ways / Modules): Boards with differing numbers of usable ways — e.g. 5-way, 8-way, 10-way, 19-way etc — give flexibility depending on how many circuits are required.
- Metal Enclosure Construction: Steel body improves strength, durability, and helps with heat dissipation. Looks good and built to last.
- Compliance & Wiring Regs: These units meet the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, BS EN 61439-3, and are finished with features like raised DIN rails, knock-outs, accessory packs with mains tail clamps etc.
